Citing sources familiar with the matter, local Disney blog WDWMagic.com says the Hall of Presidents is expected to open by Christmas of this year. While leaning on anonymous sources surrounding this particular robot have proved hazardous in the past, this date does make a lot of sense, considering that back in June, Disney did say the attraction would open by “late 2017.”
Since Trump’s inauguration, there has been quite a bit of controversy regarding his robotic self appearing at the Hall of Presidents. Last January, a petition to silence the Trump-bot surfaced, and of course, calls for Disney boycotts starting bubbling over whether or not parents want their kids around a “grab ’em by the pussy” robot.
But arguably the biggest controversy surrounding the bot followed a scathing report from Vice, which, citing an anonymous source at Disney, stated that there was an internal struggle amongst Imagineers on whether or not to completely retool the attraction so that the 45th president wouldn’t have a speaking role.
