“When I started putting together songs for our Fidelity Vol. I record, I was a bit obsessive about some records. I’m kind of a sucker for the classics, but the ones that really grabbed me were Todd Rundgren’s masterpiece Something/Anything?. The man plays nearly everything and also engineered and produced that album. Electric Light Orchestra’s kickass double album Out of the Blue: Jeff Lynne is one of my personal heroes and he also writes and produces everything he does – just plain awesome. Big Star’s #1 Record is one I’ve loved and have drawn a lot of inspiration from as a songwriter. As a guitar player: pretty much anything from Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Mike Campbell from the Heartbreakers and David Gilmour. What I hope is that my band can be an amalgamation of everything that I love.”
Local rockers Jonathan Silva and the Fallen Sons celebrate the release of their debut album, Fidelity Vol. 1, 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 at Will’s Pub with guests the Ludes. Admission is $6.
