The Winter Park/Maitland Observer reported yesterday that a mailer from outgoing Winter Park city commissioner Beth Dillaha sharply criticizing then-candidate Sarah Sprinkel was deemed to be in violation of state election law by the state attorney’s office. Any political expenditure which costs over $500 and is funded by two or more individuals–such as Dillaha’s mailer, which cost around $5,000–has to be disclosed to the state through a political action committee, something which Dillaha declined to do. (Readers of the Weekly may recall Dillaha’s name from our October article about a heated dispute over fees proposed for the Fleet Peeples dog park on Lake Baldwin.)
