They’d never cop to it, but Electric Music AKA — despite their self-sworn affinity for Eno and The Avalanches — have clearly been grooving on some mid-period Electric Light Orchestra in the three years since they released their debut album. Somehow splicing choppy Mellotron sounds and lush synth-phonics into their fairly forthright pop melodies, it seems this Scottish duo has gone and tried to craft the soundtrack for a deleted “Logan’s Run” beach party scene. Demented disregard for traditional structures (songs here ebb and flow, but seemingly in reverse) make “The Resurrection Show” a bit off-center, but the hooks these two write make each of these ten songs as catchy as they are cockeyed. Good stuff.
