Sometimes, the best way to move forward is to look back. That’s exactly what Slothrust are doing as they bring their “Of Course You Do” tour to The Abbey.
Originally scheduled for an earlier date but postponed due to the L.A. wildfires, the show is at last happening.
The Boston-born, Brooklyn-bred band — helmed by vocalist/guitarist Leah Wellbaum and drummer Will Gorin — have spent the last 15 years evolving their signature blend of gritty alt-rock and jazzy undercurrents. Early work, including 2014’s Of Course You Do, is marked by jagged guitar riffs and introspective lyrics, a mix of angst and artistry that helped cement their place in the indie-rock world.
Expect to hear Of Course You Do in its entirety Tuesday, a record that gifted fans some of Slothrust’s most popular tracks, including the slow-burn intensity of “Crockpot.” But don’t be surprised if they throw in some curveballs — after all, Slothrust are no strangers to reinterpreting music, whether through their own material or unconventional covers.
7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, The Abbey, $20.
