Can Donny Benét and Polar Boiz get us out of our post-inauguration funk? Definitely not. But can they get distractingly funky? Yes.
Australian singer/bassist Benét seemingly stepped out of a time machine sent from the mid-1980s. From his louche appearance to the undeniable dance-funk grooves of latest album Infinite Desires, Benét will do his damnedest to give you a brief musical respite from crushing reality.
Local openers Polar Boys are a hyperactive newer electronic-music duo featuring polymath Preston Hardwick. The two acts together should be an excellent sonic juxtaposition.
Donny Benét and Polar Boys play the Social downtown on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available through TKX.
