Solar-powered hidden Mickey takes shape at Walt Disney World

Last year, Duke Energy and Disney formed a partnership to build a 5-megawatt solar farm near Epcot. Now, the panels have formed a very familiar shape.

According to Blog Mickey, the solar panels now form a giant hidden Mickey totaling nearly 11.5 acres, the largest Mickey on Disney property. 

The solar farm is located off of World Drive near the ramp entrance to Epcot. Guests can see the panels as they drive by, but unfortunately, the view doesn’t allow them to see any cute mouse ears. 

A Duke Energy press release announcing the plans says that the panels will serve the Reedy Creek Improvement District, a special municipal district owned primarily by the Walt Disney Company. 

The solar facility of the plant is equal to about 1,000 residential solar rooftop systems.
