As if universities weren't wild enough already, a Florida gun-rights group argued before a court this week that students and other people who live on college campuses should be allowed to possess firearms.

Florida Carry Inc. filed a case against the University of Florida, saying the school's prohibition of firearms in university housing violates the Second Amendment and state law, according to the News Service of Florida.

UF says it's in compliance with the law, and its attorney argued to the appellate judges that students have the option to live outside of campus if they are that passionate about having a gun with them.

Gun-rights groups unsuccessfully tried to pass a bill in Florida this year that would have allowed people to carry firearms on university campuses.
