Snap Orlando has become such a significant part of our cultural fabric that it’s hard to believe it’s only been in its sleek, beautiful gallery space on East Colonial Drive for a year. Snap Space, which exists to celebrate emerging artistic talent, is now such a local hub for smart talks, mind-blowing art shows and fun parties that we can’t imagine Orlando without it – and now the gallery’s throwing a smart, fun, potentially mind-blowing birthday party for itself to celebrate. Snap proprietors Patrick and Holly Kahn flip the switch on the recently revived historic sign on the Cameo Theatre building the gallery calls home (it’s the first time there’s been a lit sign there in about 75 years), artist Chris Scala unveils a new art installation-slash-parking lot fence, the Courtesy Bar mixes craft cocktails and Orlando City Soccer Club star players mingle with the crowd. Don’t miss the pop-up exhibit from the Art Mobile. There will be a special celebratory projection mapped to the building. If you haven’t been to Snap yet, the one-year anniversary is as good a time as any to get to know what the gallery is up to. If you have been, then you don’t need us to tell you that this will be the place to be on Friday.

7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23 | Snap Orlando, 2013 E. Colonial Drive | | $10 suggested donation
