Take some time to taste Curry Ford Road's Hourglass District restaurants

Conway Road was one of the very first paved highways in Orange County, running along what is now Briercliff Drive, Curry Ford Road and Conway Road, ending at Anderson Road in the neighborhood's center. The area was originally settled in the 1850s and is now hotting up with local favorites for food and beverages, as well as new developments anchored by Lake Hourglass. There's a move afoot to rename the 'hood the Hourglass District, but old habits die hard in Curry Ford.

Various locations on Curry Ford Road

All within the same corner of Bumby Avenue and Curry Ford Road, you'll only need to cross one street to hop to several watering holes in the neighborhood, including Hourglass Social House, Hourglass Brewing and Claddagh Cottage. Hungry? F&D Woodfired Italian Kitchen has quality carbs to quell tomorrow's hangover, Cilantro's Taqueria has the handheld goodness, or choose between tamales from Tamale Co. and a vegan crunchwrap from Leguminati without even leaving the Social House.

Clemons Produce

325 Curry Ford Road

Indie before it was cool, longtime local grocer Clemons stocks fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, bread, dairy, spices, meats and more in the Dover Springs Shopping Plaza strip mall. Even better, most items are locally sourced and can be had for great prices.

The two bodies of water connected by a short, narrow canal known as Lake Hourglass (that's where they get the name!) has a lovely adjoining little park, perfect for kayaking and fishing, or just sitting and taking in all the natural sights. The park also features a playground and an open field.

The Lake Underhill Loop trail is 1.3 miles around, and continues in both directions to connect to Festival Park, Orlando Skate Park, Kittinger Park and Park of the Americas. The trail is equipped with fitness stations and is a favorite spot for boaters, birdwatchers and anglers.

Barber Park

Outfitted with basketball, baseball, volleyball and pickleball courts, plus a roller hockey rink and skateboarding area, Barber Park is a recreation paradise. There's also a fishing area and off-leash dog park, along with walking trails, picnic areas and playground.
