Overactive appetite for dessert? If so, these two recent openings will likely pose a challenge to your self-control.

First, creative cupcake baker Jeff Lambert has unveiled the retail incarnation of his Blue Bird Bake Shop. The charming Audubon Park sweetshop has only been open for about a month, but Lambert has been honing his skill for years with daily deliveries to various restaurants about town. Now you can wolf down Guinness, sweet potato or chocolate-pretzel cupcakes in the whimsical, vintagey environment, or pick up a morning cup of Seven Sisters coffee and a fresh-baked scone.

Next on the sweet-tooth front, Orlando finally has an outpost of the frozen yogurt chain that started it all (this decade, anyway … anyone remember Tasti D-Lite?). Pinkberry, the Los Angeles froyo often referred to as Crackberry due to its apparently addictive properties, has landed in Dr. Phillips. Lines are long and it's not self-serve — but the "distinct pouty peak" (!) keeps ‘em coming back for more.
