“What seems to be blaring from my speakers lately comes from San Francisco, with a unique blend of garage and lo-fi: Wet Illustrated's 1x1x1, released on True Panther last November. Two songs that exemplify guitarists Tim Hellman and Chrys Nodal's talents are “Flying” and “Saints.” Both songs are full of intricate picking and catchy, pop-sensible riffs. A consistent element on this album is gritty, aggressive vocals by the drummer, Robbie Simon, accompanied by addictive riffs that don't leave your head. The consistent change of vocal melodies creates a less generic sound than most bands in the genre.”

Garage rockers Tight Genes open for ex-King Khan and BBQ Show member Mark Sultan 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 at Will's Pub with Golden Pelicans. Tight Genes' new 7-inch release,Cop Again, will be released on Goodbye Boozy this June.
