Picks This Week: Primal Fear, Good Old War, Say Anything and more

The Struts
It's a tale as old as time itself: young British guitar band with just the right hair and cheekbones emerges amid a flurry of buzz. Meet this year's Libertines/Supergrass/Darkness. Not a bad position to be in.
7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Social, $15-$17

Pink Talking Fish
Never in even the most fervent collegiate stoner's dreams has a hybrid of Pink Floyd, Phish and the Talking Heads been envisioned, and yet here it is, a tripartite tribute to all of the above. What a world we live in.
7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Plaza Live, general admission free (limit 2, must RSVP); balcony $25

Primal Fear
German power metal heroes Primal Fear bring so much sheer heft and conviction into every note, songs are as airtight as they are unrelenting. Plus those Udo-style vokills!
7 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the Haven, $25-$75

Mystikal
New Orleans rapper Mystikal has had his share of personal tribulations, but his voice is undiminished and there's a good chance you'll hear "Shake Ya Ass."
10 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Majestic Event Center, $43.19-$64.29

Good Old War
Indie trio Good Old War is embarking on an acoustic tour to support their stripped-down new single, "Never Gonna See Me Cry," making the night a rare prospect.
7 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Will's Pub, $16

Striker
Canada's Striker are so slavish in their devotion to late-'80s Headbangers Ball-style metal that I can't help but admire them. There's nary a hint of irony in sight, thank god.
7 p.m. Monday, May 23, at Bombshell's Tavern, $12-$15

Say Anything
Emo and proud of it Max Bemis and his Say Anything bandmates take a victory lap around the Beacham, celebrating new album I Don't Think It Is.
6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, at the Beacham, $19.99-$24
