Kitchen victory is close at hand

Ever wondered how those famous TV chefs prepare such fabulous creations and make it look so easy? It is easy when there's an army of assistants who shop for the ingredients and clean up afterward.

Even the kitchen-impaired can experience the triumph of hassle-free gourmet cooking under the tutelage of Truffles & Trifles in College Park (711 W. Smith St., 648-0838.). Sign up for one of the hands-on classes, such as "Diner Cooking" and "Dinners To Make You Look Like a Genius," and the Truffles & Trifles team provides everything else. And at the end of class, everyone chows down.

Most classes begin at 6:30 p.m. and cost about $25. Among the upcoming offerings are "Great Grilling" on Sept. 23, "Awesome Greek" on Oct. 12 and "Breads to Rise Over" on Oct. 21.
