Dolphin park Discovery Cove welcomes first baby pink flamingo

The dolphin encounter park Discovery Cove just welcomed the first baby pink flamingo ever born at the Orlando attraction.

This adorable chick was hatched on June 6 and its incubation fell within the normal 27-31 day incubation period for flamingos.

According to park officials, the tiny, white chick weighed less than a whole pound (303 grams, to be exact). Its feet and beak were welcomed by its mom Bubba (great flamingo name) and dad LJ.

"The chick is expected to reach adult size in four months and will be completely pink in about two to three years,” Discovery Cove said in a press release.

The Caribbean flamingo does not have a name yet, the park is turning to Instagram in helping name this little fella.  Votes will be accepted starting on June 24. Take a look below to see how  cute  the newest resident of Discovery Cove is.
