Legalize it
I think the city and county should raise taxes and make Food Not Bombs a government program (“Round two of Orlando vs. Food Not Bombs set for February of next year,” Bloggytown, Nov. 24). They could give jobs to people that are currently homeless. Just raise taxes 1 percent for Food Not Bombs ... it’s not much and we could show that we care.

Boomers: Still pissed
I was taken aback about your reader’s comments about baby boomers (Comments, Dec. 2). To make such generalized scathing remarks about an entire generation is absurd. Some of the most generous philanthropists have been from the baby boomer generation. Hundreds of thousands of them have contributed their time and effort to charitable causes through the Peace Corps and other organizations. I have never given any credence to people who label a generation as X or Y. I have always thought these labels meaningless. I believe a person’s individual actions and deeds, regardless of their generation, is what matters most in today’s world.

How can you call boomers self-centered? I mean, this rant comes from someone who probably sits about his parents’ house like some fat, lazy, overstuffed robin who hasn’t got the message he’s to make his own way in God’s great, green world. What’s the matter, Bunkie? Parents suggest they’d like it if you’d please put down the X-box controller and at least take out the garbage, if it doesn’t stress you out too much? If we boomers have a fault, it’s that we raised Gen Xers as the most entitled age cohort since the world began. I have a friend I never see because he can’t always get mommy to drive him over, and I just refuse to be his personal taxi. He lives at home, pays no rent and refuses to buy a car or learn to drive! Oh, and Gen Xers are in their 40s now. Surely it’s time you stopped blaming your parents for your failures as a man? I’m just saying ...

All you need is Billy Manes to leak you new album reviews
Duran Duran’s 80s success was the result of genuine musical talent, mixed in with being at the right place at the right time with the right sound (“Impromptu album review: Duran Duran, All You Need is Now” Beatdown, Dec. 4). Duran Duran also mastered the music video very quickly and provided a fantasy for many in Rio. However, like most pop music of that era, they were victims, to an extent, of rapidly changing teenage and young adult tastes in music, driven mostly by the radio and American Top 40. They weren’t a pop and wave band, nor were they a hair band ... they kind of filled that gap with a unique sound that was distinctly Duran Duran.

I got bored half way down, but Mark is cool and Duran Duran my fave band. Yes, even though they might be from the 80s – best band EVER!!! Can’t wait to buy this new album ... And, Mark, love your work!!! Mwah ! :)) So glad u got together with the boys !!!
