Ringing in the holiday season in style is A Tribute to Charlie Trotter, an elegant reception Dec. 13 at Norman’s that pays tribute to the late great Chicago chef. In attendance will be such names as Pulapaka, Hunnel, McGlamery, Richie, Blake, Fonzo and, of course, Norman Van Aken, not to mention a few master sommeliers. The $200 ticket price (plus tax and gratuity) includes a champagne reception, several food stations, desserts, pastries, cordials, cigars and more.

Brews news: The soon-to-open Brass Tap in Mills Park will feature 60 draft beers, more than 100 bottled beers, a pub menu and an outdoor patio seating more than 100; look for an early January opening. Ten 10 Brewing Co. on Virginia Drive has cleared all bureaucratic hurdles with the city and has commenced buildout; look for them to open early next year.

You’ll want to get tickets to K Restaurant’s Dec. 15 Annual Holiday Truffle Dinner before they sell out. From passed appetizers to dessert, every course features truffles purchased from Alba, Italy (white) and Burgundy, France (black), with wines from the Piedmont and Burgundy regions. Cost is $95 (excluding tax and gratuity) and includes a reception with bubbly, too.

The Jammin’ Food & Rum Fest goes from noon to 9 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 29, at Lake Eola. In addition to the live music, festivalgoers will get their fill of curries, arepas, jerk chicken, burgers, even poutine, along with plenty of rum-based drinks. Cost is $15.
