Selikoff’s early collaboration in the RS21 group (which updated the ideas of Maitland Art Center founder Andre Smith’s Research Studio for the 21st century) led him to take his art career seriously enough to quit his job and go for it. Integrating computer programming with visual art, Selikoff’s taking it on the road to Art Basel (the mothership in Switzerland, not the Miami Beach offshoot) and math-art conferences in Canada and Europe. At his recent “Bring Your Own Beamer (flashlight),” he co-curated a pop-up art happening where people messed around with light that computers also messed around with, creating starry Van Gogh effects on the wall. And in June, TEDxOrlando announced that Selikoff would be their inaugural artist-in-residence – presenting a talk of his own and designing the 2015 set. Selikoff’s widely varied practice indicates he’s on his way toward something special.
