Gallery at Avalon Island

39 S. Magnolia Ave.

The intimate space on the ground floor of the historic Rogers Building has been an art-lover’s downtown destination for years, and its absence has been felt during its recent shuttering. The good news is that the gallery has reopened; the better news is that there’s a knowledgeable contemporary-art curator at the helm (Patrick Greene, guiding force behind 2012’s citywide Walk On By project and most recently employed at Urban ReThink); the best news is that Greene has plans not just for the gallery but also for the upstairs screening room that used to house the Digital Media Arts Center.

(Sorry, no information is currently available for other years in this same award category.)
