The inaugural Second Harvest Guest Chef Night Aug. 29 will feature Cress Restaurant’s Hari and Jenneffer Pulapaka preparing a multi-course dinner for guests in the Darden Community Kitchen. The new monthly event is limited to 100 guests and costs $50 per person, with all proceeds going to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank and its outreach activities. Visit foodbankcentralflorida.org or call 407-514-1048 for tickets.
Also for the first time, Austin-based Tex-Mex chain Chuy’s will celebrate their Green Chile Festival at the Kissimmee branch – though it’s the 25th annual fest for the chain. A batch of the harvest-fresh peppers has been brought in from Hatch, N.M., and is being featured in seven green-chile-touched dishes through Sept. 8.
If you’re looking to do a little good or maybe learn a little something, Do Good Farms has volunteer opportunities at their aquaponics facility on Aug. 22, 27, 29 and 31. Expect at least three hours of hot, sweaty manual labor to help people in need. Visit dogoodfarm.org.
