If the long, hot summer has got you down, get short and cool at the Love Your Shorts Film Festival’s Summer Rewind at the historic Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center in Sanford. Thirteen short films previously screened at the main festival in February will be shown, with a party and auction to follow at Rabbitfoot Record Store Café just a block away. The movies were selected by festival organizers and represent a variety of genres, though the program is almost half animation thanks to the inclusion of crowdpleasers such as The D in David and Wishgranter, both of which are Florida productions. Dramas include Birthday and Mine while the documentary Cotton Country is a worthy selection. Though OW’s favorites from February’s festival (Pitter Patter Goes My Heart and Nelly) were left out, there’s enough here to tide short-film lovers over until the main festival rolls around again in six months.

8 p.m. Friday Aug. 25 | Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center, 201 S. Magnolia Ave., Sanford | loveyourshorts.com | $5
