Band of the Week: Vulture$

Welcome to Orlando Weekly's "Band of the Week." Every week, we highlight one of our favorite local bands. This week, we're pleased to bring you Vulture$.

Vulture$ is playing a CD release show at Uncle Lou's on July 22 with Effit, Disfuction, Dial Drive and Straight Jacket.

Just the facts:

Who's in the band?
Jorge Buitre - Drums and gender curiosity
Anibal Condor - guitar, organization skills and backup vocals
Nick Buzzard  - bass, hatred of punk rock and vocals
Jack Vulture - guitar, cynicism  and vocals

When did the band form?
October 2016, but some of the guys were kicking around in another band "the Jodone's" before we solidified Vulture$ lineup. Once we were solid we gently slid back into the scene.

Describe your sound in five words:
Punk, metal, rock, hardcore, blender

Five questions:

What has been your most memorable show so far?
Played a show at Cosmic Vinyl in Titusville last year. First show as a four piece and we had a blast. There was tacos and tattoos outside. Rubber rats and old smelly records inside. The kinda place you wanna take an ex-con on a first date.

Which local band is your favorite one to play a show with?
Vulture$. Those guys seem to really have their shit together, not just musically, but sexually too. Their bass player has sexual narcolepsy. Makes for some pretty bizarre YouTube videos. Then even stranger videos of him falling asleep to those videos.

What description gets used for your band that you would most
like to correct people on? Why?
I'm pretty confident nobody has ever described us. Accurately or inaccurately. If anything, probably offensive. But that's my fault. I tend to offend....mostly the drummer from Vulture$. He is sensitive like the skin on a baby's face after it's first shave.

What’s your favorite thing about being an Orlando band? What's your least favorite? Why?
Favorite: The plethora of open parking spots at our shows.
Least favorite: The plethora of open parking spots at our shows.

Any big news to share?
There is a rumor floating around that Anibal died. He is still alive. He just overdid it on candy bars, lotto tickets and bath salts, so he's hanging up his guitar. Once Nick wakes up and puts his pants back on, he will be picking up that guitar, so we are looking for a bassist! If your alcoholic step-mother plays bass, let us know.
