Sanford wants to become a hub for craft beer connoisseurs.

With two microbreweries already open and several new ones on the way, the city aims to become the next big craft brewery spot, emulating Asheville, North Carolina. Sanford Economic Director Bob Turk, Sanford Brewing owner Allan Jackson and others will visit Asheville next month to observe how its brewery businesses are attracting outside visitors.

"Sanford is still in the early stages in the urban renewal aspect," Jackson told the Orlando Business Journal. "Property here is still reasonably affordable compared to other Central Florida areas."

Wops Hops, which opened in 2014, is Sanford's first brewery. Jackson's brewery, Sanford Brewing Co., which is the second, has been receiving more foot traffic since its opening last October. He's hoping that it's an indicator of the growing market in the area.

No set dates have been released for the other breweries expected to open, but according to the OBJ these have been announced:
