The Trace, a nonprofit news organization that covers gun issues, released a recent study that tallies the nation's gun-related road rage occurrences from January of 2014 to December of 2016.
According to the report, 1,300 road rage incidents ended in gun violence across the country during that time frame. The report also says that there were at least 620 incidents during 2016, which was a doubling of 2015's numbers.
Florida contributed the most to this tally with 146 incidents, making it the worst state for these types of traffic related occurrences.
"Florida has the largest number of concealed-carry permit holders," said James Burnett, editorial director of the Trace, to CBS News 10 in Tampa.
As of March 31 this year, 1,735,961 concealed weapon or firearm permits are currently valid across the state of Florida. This is a large increase from the 2015 tally of 1,384,756.
