The automat-style restaurant fell out of favor at the end of space age futurism, but continued pushes for seamless food delivery and the ongoing pandemic have made the dial-it-up vending system desirable yet again.
The first of Brooklyn Dumpling Shop's automat Chinese restaurants opened earlier this year and it's already expanding out of state. Florida franchisee is bringing multiple outposts of the concept to the state, including one in Orlando.
“From the moment I entered the East Village location, I knew this was the right fit for me and for Florida. I’m so excited to be part of the Brooklyn Dumpling Shop family and make this amazing concept available to my fellow Floridians,” said franchisee Marc Silverstone in a press release. “Brooklyn Dumpling Shop is one of the fastest growing franchises in North America and is positioned somewhere between traditional fast-food restaurants and sit-down restaurants. With our goal to bring locations to Orlando, Miami and Wynwood, we want to make this New York gem a top choice for Florida residents and visitors.”
No opening date for the Orlando location has been announced.
