Back in October, we reported that Orlando Meats would soon be moving to more spacious digs in Winter Park. On Thursday, the purveyors of carnivorous goodness announced that they will be closing the doors to their Virginia Drive location for the final time on Christmas Day, before reopening in a few miles up the road in January 2021.

Orlando Meats' new location is 1035 Orlando Ave., Winter Park, in the old Todo Sushi space. The butcher shop and dining area will both be larger, Recess Pizza is making a comeback … and there will be a full liquor bar.

The Orlando Meats chef-owners haven't given a firm reopening date yet, but hope for "minimal downtime," with the kitchen already set up in the new building.

In the meantime, Mills 50 denizens have between now and Christmas to indulge in creatively prepared meaty delights, including the limited-edition McDowell's — a spin on the McRib with boneless ribs, purple slaw, pickles, sticky sauce and a soft bun.
