Oh, the sharing economy. Because we shouldn't let humans have all the fun, sleeping in magically affordable rooms in high-demand locales via AirBnB or getting (hopefully) inexpensive rides from strangers via Uber and Lyft, now there's a company that's appealing to the canine consumer as well. Rover.com is a service that lets pet owners search for other pet owners (p2p, indeed) who are willing to rent out a spot on the couch for a canine. Don't want to send your dog to a kennel? Check out the accommodations on Rover. Think your dog gets too lonely when you bring a pet sitter to the house? With Rover, you can send your dog on a little vacation of his own while you're in ... wherever it is you go when you leave your dog alone.
People offering care on Rover.com are "reviewed and approved" before being allowed to list their services on the site, says Rover.com's PR rep Pete Bahrenburg, and people who book with the site receive sitter insurance of up to $25,000.
