The soundtrack to the latest Kevin Smith opus "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" is loaded with sound bites from the film including "Jay's Rap" and other various tidbits from the profanity-laced flick. You can be amazed that Jay has never heard of the Internet and Ben Affleck's swipe at his sci-fi adventure, "Phantoms."
The CD features some brand-new cuts as well as some welcome blasts from the past. Since all of Smith's movies have something to do with New Jersey, it only makes sense that Bon Jovi lend "Bad Medicine" to the mix. Old School rappers Run-D.M.C. represent with "Tougher Than Leather" as does The Time, who bust out a live version of their huge smash "Jungle Love."
The new tracks are quite funny: The Bloodhound Gang's "Jackass," Stroke 9's "Kick Some Ass" and Afroman's "Because I Got High" are rib-tickling musical gems that blend rather well into a film filled with jackasses getting high and kicking ass. This is a welcome addition to the collection of any Smith fan and a fond farewell to the stoned duo of Jay and his silent life mate.
