Review - systems/layers

Artist: Rachels

Like so much beaded red wine on scattered shards of glass, "systems/layers"c revels in the quiet storm of romantic regret. A goodbye is the dramatic, teary-eyed draw of a bow across a lonely string, with a walkaway wince from the side of a cymbal. The flourish here grows to accompany slight movements with fully idealized sounds (they even encourage fans to provide samples: an ice cream truck from Brussels, subway chimes, garbage trucks, and front porch sounds are used here to startling, albeit subtle, effect). The idea is to encapsulate modern urban life with tempo and flow as diverse as those of the populace. The result, to be presented later in theatrical form, is nothing short of breathtaking.
