Pay tribute to Theatre Downtown’s 25 years at the corner of Orange and Princeton with a “roast” and farewell party on Nov. 15. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the evening’s entertainment, which includes a raffle of items donated by other local arts groups in support of Theatre Downtown’s plans to continue producing shows after they vacate their longtime home early next year. The company’s contact list was recently lost, so email [email protected] to stay up to date on their future projects.
After several delays, the Artegon Orlando marketplace opens in the former Festival Bay Mall Nov. 20, featuring a “village” of 165 art galleries, craft workshops and artisans’ boutiques. Grand opening festivities include a performance by the Phantasmagoria steampunk troupe presented by Gods & Monsters, which bills itself the nation’s second-largest comic and collectible shop.
It’s never too early for artists to start planning grant applications, and United Arts has announced a series of free seminars to assist potential recipients of their 2015 Artist in Community Grants. The program awards up to $2,500 per project in matching funds, and distributed $24,816 to 13 artists this year. Workshops run Jan. 10 through Feb. 3 across local counties, but you must RSVP in advance through unitedarts.cc/united-arts-events.
