Three local artists who serve double duty as curators will be the first guests in the annual lecture series hosted by Maitland Art Center that gets underway Thursday, Sept. 11.
According to program director Robin Ambrose, the panel for "The Artist as Curator" program will feature Steve Lotz of the University of Central Florida Gallery; Anita Wooten of Valencia Community College's East Campus Gallery; and Leon Theodore of the Bethune Cookman College Gallery. Visual artists all, they will explain how their own creative experiences influence their selection of new exhibits and how the art community benefits by having active artists in charge of its exhibition programs.
The lecture is the first entry in a season of educational events (most to be held on Thursday evenings), including the annual tribute to André Smith, the late founder of Maitland Art Center, on Dec. 7.
