Selection Reminder: TEDxOrlando 2011 at Garden Theatre!

Saturday, Nov. 5TEDxOrlando 2011: The Creative Spark

The marketplace of ideas may be the only market currently worthy of faith; no matter how devalued and depleted the world’s economic systems, natural resources and reserves of common decency become, one thing you can count on is the wellspring of human ingenuity. TED is an annual international event that trumpets the best ideas of the year from around the world (as they put it, “ideas worth spreading”). It began as a conference for thinkers in technology, entertainment and design, but it’s since branched out into education, food, business, science, human rights – any topic that aims to improve life is fair game – and also sprouted independent TEDx conferences everywhere. TEDxOrlando boasts talks from local venture capitalist Bert Roper (among other things, he’s involved in Winter Garden’s “greenhouse of tomorrow” a rooftop hydroponic/aquaculture hybrid garden) and Darren McDaniel, visionary co-founder of downtown’s creative multi-use space Urban ReThink.
