The Club back on the street

Into the wee hours of Sunday, June 7, a stretch of Concord Street outside The Club -- Orlando's one-time after-hours techno mecca -- will be alive with the late-night energy that brought the city widespread acclaim. But The Club's fourth annual block party, part of the festivities tied to Gay Day at Disney, and partying inside the nightclub will have to cease at 3 a.m. this year.

Last year, block partyers could simply step inside The Club at the conclusion of outdoor activities. City ordinances allowed the indoor bash to go on all night -- albeit without liquor. This year, however, the indoor and outdoor parties will be shutting down in unison, as Orlando City Council declined the management's request for an exemption from the anti-rave ordinance passed in September 1997.
