Filling empty bowls across the nation

We love the concept of dining out. Other people cook, serve and even clean up afterward.

Now imagine adding social consciousness to that delightful experience, which is the goal of Taste of the Nation, a culinary event shared by 70 cities across the United States and Canada that aids organizations working to end hunger and poverty. The Orlando event, June 28 at the Orange County Convention Center, benefits the Second Harvest Food Bank and Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. Featuring 30 of Central Florida's finest chefs -- including those from Fulton's Crab House, Darden Restaurants, Wolfgang Puck's and Portabello Yacht Club -- the evening also promises auctions of jewelry, trips, fine art and more.

Tickets are $85 per person and available from Second Harvest or the Coalition.
