Oblivion There comes a time when you realize you’ve immersed yourself in too much science fiction and it might just be time to move on. Like, for example, when you read that the new Tom Cruise movie pitches him as the caretaker of a burned-out Earth, and you think “Just like Silent Running” – only for reviewers to compare it to Wall-E instead. Yeah, talk about sifting through the ashes of a dead civilization. The plot of this week’s only wide release ties our hero’s fate to that of a mysterious femme fatale (Olga Kurylenko), which is bound to delight fans of Blade Runner and Logan’s Run and Code 46 and Jesus, I gotta rent more musicals.
