I don’t know why people are surprised by this (“Today in textgate, part III: Sad things we learned from State Attorney Jeff Ashton’s press conference this afternoon,” blogs.orlandoweekly.com, Aug. 28). That boob Ashton couldn’t prosecute his way out of a wet paper bag. How he became a State Attorney after losing the biggest no-brainer case since O.J. Simpson is beyond me. Obviously he was elected because of his high-profile involvement in the Casey Anthony trial, not because he is a good prosecutor.

I had higher hopes for Danny Banks of the FDLE. He roasted the Florida Highway Patrol for their handling of not closing I-75 during fog which caused a massive crash with fatalities a couple of years ago. After his published investigation, his car was vandalized. Danny Banks is not part of the system, Ashton is.

This just made me throw up in my mouth (“More textgate stuffs! Full Florida Department of Law Enforcement reports just released,” blogs.orlandoweekly.com, Aug. 28). This to me is just clear evidence of collusion by our own elected officials to work against their constituents on behalf of private interests in exchange for election assistance. It couldn’t be any more plainly spoken in those text messages. What a bunch of crooks.
