President Donald Trump, a person who has avoided military service due to crippling bone spurs, says he would have run unarmed into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School during the shooting.

"I really believe I'd run in there, even if I didn't have a weapon, and I think most of the people in this room would have done that too," Trump told a gathering of U.S. governors at the White House.

That's even more ridiculous than similar claims made by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi on Fox & Friends this morning – we all saw her get bodied by Anderson Cooper on her LGBTQ record after the Pulse massacre.

Trump was responding to reports about law enforcement officials, particularly one deputy assigned to the Parkland high school who stayed outside as 19-year-old gunman Nikolas Cruz killed 17 students and teachers inside the school on Feb. 14. Trump said the deputies "weren't exactly Medal of Honor winners" and "the way they performed was frankly disgusting."

And yet Trump, a man who's previously said "I’m not good for medical. … If you cut your finger and there’s blood pouring out, I’m gone," actually thinks he would have rushed into a school shooting to save people.

The reality is it's hard to tell exactly what you'll do in a mass shooting until that moment, no matter how prepared you are. And actually, we've already seen what Trump does in terrifying situations – remember when he ran away from that bald eagle?
