– the Smithsonian Institute’s exhibit that features the works of photographer and tinkerer Todd McLellan – attempts to answer that question with its cleverly displayed assortment of disassembled objects, from a smartphone to a baby grand piano to the tick, tick, ticking components of a grandfather clock. Think of it like this: It’s the deepest possible look at the most common and mundane.
