20 wonderful shots from the Panorama Photo Project

“Panoramic” implies a 360-degree view, and while no art project can truly capture every facet of a community, the Panorama Photo Project comes close. Through the ingenious strategy of simply leaving disposable cameras in public spaces like bus stations, coffee shops, libraries, gyms, etc. – with instructions to anyone who picked one up to take photos for a week and return to a collection spot – the organizer, Elizabeth Kruckemyer, made artistic collaborators out of unrelated passers-by, who shot and contributed individual scenes from daily life that, taken as a whole, add up to a sort of Portrait of Us. Large-scale prints of the images captured by these unwitting teammates have been displayed at Jeanine Taylor Folk Art, Downtown Credo and will soon be hung at the CityArts Factory downtown.
