Other cities mourn the passing of summer; here, fall means we can come out of our air-conditioned caves and start comfortably enjoying the outdoors. Fall is when we begin to run 5K races and attend outdoor festivals again. We can sit at a sidewalk café and have a drink or two without being fried by the sun, we can work outside in community gardens, and we can celebrate a team win in a sunny stadium (those poor saps up north in their parkas!).

But it’s not all outdoors fun in the (slightly weaker) sun: Our galleries and theaters launch their seasons each fall with their best offerings. Screens around town, both indoors and out, raise the stakes with cultural film festivals and cult favorites. Clubs and venues find their schedules packed with national acts who want to take advantage of our mild weather, and political and community issues rise to the forefront again.

Orlando Weekly’s fall guide is stuffed with all the events you won’t want to miss in the coming months. Our calendar editor, Aimee Vitek, pulled together more than 1,200 individual events from more than 200 local organizations, which means there’s got to be at least one thing in these pages that you’ll want to see, hear, eat, play, watch, think about or do for every calendar day through Nov. 30.

So get to it, go harvest all the fun! Sleep is overrated.
