Walgreens is coming to downtown Orlando

7-Eleven will no longer be the only convenience store option in downtown Orlando now that a 6,400 square-foot Walgreens plans to move in.

The convenience store chained signed a lease with Nunziata Holdings LLC for a ground-level space at 190 S. Orange Ave. on June 6, according to the Orlando Business Journal.

The Walgreens will occupy the entire first floor of the former Valencia Business Administration Building, across from Wahlburgers.

The historic building was first constructed in 1911, and has been home to the First National Bank at Orlando and the Sun First National Bank at Orlando.

“Downtown Orlando is the place where people want to be. We continue to see more and more people choosing to live, work and visit our downtown,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer to OBJ. “Because of this, we are also seeing expanded investment in retail, including national brands like Walgreens that offer the services and amenities our residents, workers and visitors need.”

The new Walgreens hopes to open by the end of the year.
