Selected material: this year's best

If you had a hard time finding decent tunes in 1997 you were not alone. You have to do your homework in the homogenized post-rave/post-grunge/post-indie era. The fact that Puffy-samples and 3rd generation alternarock dominate the airwaves shouldn't discourage anyone from hitting the stores, because there is always good music to be found and there always will be artists with vision waiting in the wings.
