Federal authorities searched the Indiana home of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle Tuesday morning, according to the Indianapolis Star. Officials from the FBI, Indiana State Police and Postal Service were seen at the house, and an evidence truck was parked in the driveway.
Fogle garnered national attention in 2000 when the sandwich chain ran television commercials sharing his story of losing more than 200 pounds through exercise and eating Subway sandwiches. Fogle later created the Jared Foundation, which, according to its website, is on a “mission to eliminate childhood obesity by raising awareness and developing programs that educate and inspire kids to live healthier, happier lives.”
The raid comes months after the executive director of Fogle’s foundation, Russell Taylor, was arrested on federal child pornography charges. During a search of Taylor’s home, investigators said they found more than 400 videos of child pornography, and later they charged the former director with seven counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, the Star says.
At the time, Fogle said he was “shocked” and that the organization was “severing all ties” with Taylor. So far, investigators have not said if the two cases are related, according to Fox59.
