Police Beat

April 21

(2010-186354) 7:20 a.m.: While a man was asleep at home in the 600 block of East Harding Street, someone helped the valuable contents of his car escape the garage and jump the gate. Then the benevolent stranger took the man's bored credit cards on a shopping spree along South Orange Avenue.

(2010-186801) 1:17 p.m.: A man went into a pregnant woman's house in the 3600 block of North Lake Mann Drive, slapped her around and threatened to "retaliate" if she called cops. Instead, she called his bluff, and he went to jail.

(2010-187211) 5:50 p.m.: Answering a holdup call in the 1000 block of West Colonial Drive, police were flagged down by the business owner in question and found their jobs made considerably easier.

"The arrestee had shot himself in the foot while fighting over the gun with the owner," Officer Jose Pagan says.

April 22

(2010-188329) 5:30 a.m.: Someone cut through a fence behind El Dorado Cleaners on South Semoran Boulevard and stole the valuable metal piping from the air conditioner. The Copper Man?

(2010-188313) 8:45 a.m.: Police tracked a 10-year-old boy to South Eola Drive after he ditched class at Cherokee Elementary School, and the kid earned himself a permanent vacation: "Little Richard spit in Officer Matthews face," Officer Thomas Matthews himself reports. A charge of battery on a cop will get you out of that math test.

(2010-189268) 7:30 p.m.: Two teenagers — already on probation — pushed a 7-year-old boy off his bike, took it and pelted him with dirt at Mallard Cove Apartments on South Conway Road. The boy's father got the bike back, and the teens took a ride with police.

April 23

(Kissimmee PD) 1:30 a.m.: A woman told police that she went to meet her brother at Krazy Vern's Car Wash on Michigan Avenue, but ran into her ex-girlfriend — who slashed the woman's arm and hand with a box cutter. Hey, Vern, I got your Krazy.

(2010-190356) 9 a.m.: Someone used a ladder to scale Vision Works on East Colonial Drive, then stole copper out of six air conditioners and got away unseen.

(2010-191096) 9:20 p.m.: A man and a pregnant woman strolled up to a group outside a party at Lakeview Apartments on Orange Center Boulevard and started arguing. The man threatened partygoers with a gun, then left.

April 24

(2010-191400) 12:13 a.m.: Two masked men with guns robbed a couple in the 2100 block of Orange Center Boulevard.

(2010-191795) 6 a.m.: If you lost 140 grams of crack at the Greyhound Bus Station on North John Young Parkway, call Orlando police. I'm sure they'll give it right back.

(2010-191906) 9:40 a.m.: A woman wearing a white T-shirt over her Obama shirt robbed Fifth Third Bank on South Semoran Boulevard. She passed a note saying she had a gun and left with more than change.

(2010-192119) 12:34 p.m.: A man headed for the exit of Best Buy on East Colonial Drive with an Xbox 360 that wasn't his. An employee locked the door. The guy pulled a knife and forced his way out.

(2010-192272) 3 p.m.: Someone smashed the windows of a car in the 5900 block of Bent Pine Drive. That was the third attempt to steal a car — all older Honda Accords — in that area since the previous night.

April 25

(2010-192980) 12:53 a.m.: Police headed for a crowd at Denny's parking lot on International Drive heard seven or eight gunshots and saw a man running. They nabbed him and found he had a handgun that belonged to the Orange County Sheriff's Office. A man in the crowd had been shot three times but was expected to survive.

(2010-193153) 5:15 a.m.: What do you get when you mix an old Fidel Castro speech with 1980s fashions? During a harangue in the 5200 block of South Kirkman Road, a man in all black except for a white tie and shoes waved a pistol at a couple, hit one of them in the face and fired a shot into the air before returning to whatever weird dimension he'd escaped from.

(2010-193653) 2:07 p.m.: A Macy's employee tried to stop a man leaving the Mall at Millenia store with a load of unbought stuff and got punched and kicked for his trouble. The thief grabbed some of his loot and disappeared into nearby Northbridge Apartments.

April 26

(2010-194751) 4:30 a.m.: At a house in the 1200 block of Juilana Place, someone squeezed in under a garage door left up for the cats and stole a bunch of stuff. Hey, where'd the cats get all this money?

(OCSO) 8:44 a.m.: A man told deputies that a mugger demanded money before shooting him multiple times at the intersection of West Church Street and South Texas Avenue.

(Kissimmee PD) 3:30 p.m.: A man shot and slightly wounded two people at the corner of Brack Street and Cypress Avenue. Police sought to SWAT him at Lambert Inn on West Vine Street, but he'd already buzzed off.

(2010-195502) 5:55 p.m.: Some antihero got into a house on Brockway Avenue, took two pistols and an Iraq War medal.
