We love how colorful Orlando has become. From brightly decorated utility boxes to city-commissioned murals at bus stops to permission walls where local artists are invited to tag and paint as long as they ask first, street art has turned parts of our formerly dull (and sometimes plain old ugly) streetscape into bright, visually intriguing panoramas – places we want to celebrate rather than hide. We sent photographer James Dechert out to document some of our favorite pieces of art adorning the walls, alleys and sidewalks of Orlando. We’ve published as many of them in these pages as we could fit – the rest appear in a photo gallery – along with addresses, so you can take yourself on a self-guided wall-to-wall tour of the evolving gallery that is Orlando street-art culture.
