The Orlando Police Department says two of its officers fired and killed a man that was armed with a "simulated firearm," according to reports.

OPD's dispatch center received a call early Sunday morning from a witness who saw a black man "walking up and down" Orange Blossom Trail with a "chrome firearm." The first officer who responded found Charlin Charles, 25, and OPD says he "immediately called for assistance" because he had Charles at gunpoint.

Three more officers responded and commanded Charles to put the gun down, but officials say he refused and raised the firearm. Officers Michael Ragsdale and Joseph Imburgio fired their weapons and hit Charles, who was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

OPD says none of its officers were injured, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be investigating the shooting.
