As House Republicans get ready to repeal parts of Obamacare on Thursday, local organizers in Orlando have planned a rally this morning against the GOP's replacement plan.

Republican leaders say the American Health Care Act, also known as Trumpcare, will fix a broken system created by the Affordable Care Act, but opponents say it will leave millions uninsured, give the wealthy tax breaks and cut billions in funding to Medicaid.

"Because of the ACA, more than 20 million people have gained health coverage, women can no longer be indiscriminately charged more than men for health coverage, and insurers can no longer impose high costs that effectively block people with pre-existing conditions and the elderly from accessing care that is essential to their health and well-being," For Florida's Future organizers say in a press release. "With more than 2.2 million Floridians at-risk of losing health coverage, it is no surprise that an overwhelming majority of Floridians strongly oppose key provisions of the Republican plan."

Organizers say they will be holding a rally against Trumpcare in front of Marco Rubio's downtown Orlando office on 201 S. Orange Ave. at 11:30 a.m. Speakers include Anna Eskamani, with Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida; Keinon Carter, a Pulse survivor who's dealing with medical costs; and Kirk Root, an Orlandoan with cerebral palsy and epilepsy who depends on Medicaid.
