Remember these lovely ladies? In 2013, they (from left, Victoria Williams, Kristina Janolo and Chloe Lupo) graced the pages of our 2013 Best of Orlando issue, and they were damn good sports, mugging for the camera and gamely agreeing to allow us to ruin their makeup and muss up their hair for our cover concept – which was hysterical beauty queens competing to be named Miss Best of Orlando. These women weren't just playing beauty queens, mind you. They really are beauty queens (Wiliams is Miss Winter Park 2013, Janolo is Miss Florida 2011 and Lupo is Miss Orlando 2013), and on Saturday, Jan. 18 you can see one of them, Lupo, doing her thing for real at the Miss Orlando 2014 beauty pageant.
Lupo, who is 22, is competing for the title, and if you want to go cheer her on, you can head to University High School, 2450 Cougar Lane (sort of a weird address for a high school) and catch the action starting at 7 p.m. Lupo is competing against 12 other women for the title – her issue is alcoholism and her talent is her voice. She totally gets our vote, though this pageant is not a democracy, so our vote means nothing, and we're totally biased because she did us a huge favor by posing for our cover.
I mean, come on: Look at this cover shot. What a good sport.
By the way – whoever becomes the winner isn't just another vapid pretty face. This is a scholarship pageant, and each contestant is competing to increase her scholarship earnings so she can continue with her education.

No, there probably won't be a competitive-eating component to the programming this year.
