This just in from Mills 50's email newsletter: The newest art project the main street district is embarking on is beautifying its Dumpsters and alleys. In conjunction with the city of Orlando, the new project will give 15 Dumpsters a makeover.

MILLS 50 DUMPSTER ART PROJECT

Mills 50, in conjunction with the City of Orlando, is sponsoring another Public Art Project, in order to create an environment which depicts the community's diversity, creativity, commerce and neighborhoods.  Fifteen (15) City of Orlando dumpsters located in Mills 50 will be transformed into art boxes during Phase I of the project.

The call for artists was issued in March with the deadline for submissions on Friday, April 25.  Mills 50 received forty eight (48) submissions from thirty two (32) artists.

The artists chosen for this round of work are:

Jeremy Carrus

Shannon Carrus

Crummy Gummy

Augusto Herrera

Soco Freire

Chris Kretzer

Cynthia Kuffel

Daniel Perry

Chris Tobar Rodriguez

Danny Rodriguez (Danny Rock)

Patty Sheehan

Randall Smith

Megan Steward

Painting will begin this week and should be complete by the end of June.
