Florida sheriff deputies rescued a puppy stuck in a storm drain and named it 'Poncho'

Two deputies teamed up to rescue a 3-month-old puppy from a storm drain in Riverview, Florida.

According to a Facebook post from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Tara Quezada was out on patrol when she was flagged down Tuesday morning by residents and told about a puppy stuck in the sewer.

Deputy Quezada called her zone partner for back up as the little guy was struggling to stay afloat. Deputy Zachary Shute showed up to lend a helping hand with some tools in tow. But the puppy, who they affectionately named "Poncho" was still out of reach even with the use of a net provided by one of the onlookers.

After a quick regrouping, the duo then used Deputy Quezada’s duty belt to lower her into the drain head first and she then used the net to rescue "Poncho."

The deputies were unable to find the puppy's owner, so she was taken to the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center.
